Robert Peak is a Blessed Double Lung Transplant Recipient.
“I am involved in the Donor Network of Arizona as a volunteer & I am also a Lung Transplant Foundation Mentor for other Pre- transplant patients, as well as a Lung Institute monthly support group. I do all of this in my ongoing effort to “ give back or to pay it forward in order to honor my Donor.”
What is the most exciting thing you are working on right now?
We are currently beginning a new chapter in our “giving back” along our Transplant journey. I applied & was selected as a Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Speaker/ Ambassador & we are currently making travel arrangements for the Training Seminar in Chicago in April.

What failure did you learn the most from and what did you learn?
I don’t consider any experience in my life to be a failure as long as the intentions & actions were pure. I believe that all experience with positive or negative outcomes are for a reason that will benefit in some way @ a later time in our lives.
What is your go-to strategy in moments of self doubt?
In my unique situation my motivation is to survive & to stay healthy for as long as possible post transplant. I see each new day as a beautiful “gift of life”, my motivation Is to spend as much quality time with those that mean the world to me.
Who or what are you most grateful for?
My Donor, Donor family, & the Transplant Team that saved my life, I have a vast & fantastic support system including my wife, soulmate & caregiver Lisa. She has stood by me literally for 29 years as our lives suddenly & drastically changed forever. We truly honor our vows & are there for each other.
How do you recharge?
By giving of myself, my time, & by educating others by telling my story in the multiple volunteer positions that I am involved in.
